A Kohiki Chawan with finger wiped decoration.
I have drawn my fingers through the wet slip to reveal the dark clay body underneath. 4.5 inches across.
Wood Fired Guinomi.
A Guinomi withan incised decoration. The ash from the fire has left it’s mark on the side of the cup. 2.5 inches tall.
Ash Glazed Yunomi.
The two glazes on this piece are made with pine ash ( outside) and Elm ash ( inside).
Yunomi with slip decoration.
I have places a semi tansparent ash glaze over brush fulls of thick white slip. 43/8 inches tall
Kohiki Lidded Jar or Caddy.
A lidded jar. Kohiki glaze. Kohiki is directly related to the Korean Ponchong and to the Karatsu tradition in Japan which, itself, was born out of the Korean method of dark clay and white slip.
Ash Glazed Chawan.
This Chawan is glazed with an ash glaze made from Pine ash. The loer portion of the bowl is unglazed but displays the variagated surface produced by the wood fire. 4.75 inches across.
Kohiki Yunomi.
A Kohiki Yunomi. Kohiki is a Japanese word that refers to a clear glaze over a layer of white slip and a very dark, sometimes almost black, clay body. 4.25 inches tall.
Press Moulded Bottle with Finger wipe.
A press moulded bottle with a finger wipe decoration. The overglaze has become an unusual duck egg blue over the shoulder. 7 inches tall.
Bottle or Tokkuri. Wood Fired.
A wood fired bottle or Tokkuri. I have placed a Nuka glaze over the shoulder which has melted and trickled down the sides. The wood fire has produced a variagated surface from deep orange to a glossy sheendue to wood ash from the fire. 6 inches tall.
Kohiki Yunomi with iron brush pattern.
From the cool corner of the wood kiln this yunomi has a clear glaze over a white slip in the manner of Korean Ponchong.
4 inches tall.
Wood fired Shino glazed Yunomi.
A Yunomi with a shino glaze from the wood kiln. I have finger wiped the glaze after one application and then applied a further coat of glaze.

A small box with a tenmoku glaze and Nuka on the uppermost surface.

A Chawan with a raised chevron pattern. Tenmoku Glaze with Nuka on the inside. 4.5 inches across.
Wood Fired Guinomi. 2009.
A wood fired Guinomi with a dripping ash glaze. This small cup was placed on the bag wall immediately above the firebox. 2 3/8 inches tall.
Shino Glazed Faceted Chawan. 2009.
I have faceted this Chawan with upward strokes of a flat knife during the throwing. Shino glaze and wood fired. 4 3/8 inches dia. at the rim.
