H243 An albarello vase by Hamada Shoji.
Hamada made a great many of these forms based on the 16th century Italian drug jars. I have to say that this one is the best I have found. A little different to most in that it has the Nuka glaze which has softened the iron pigment brushwork. Quite a large piece at 8 inches tall. Just a lovely statement of Hamada’s unfussy, direct and honest approach to clay and glaze.
