HJ166 A press moulded dish by Hamada Shoji
Hamada made a good many of these pressed dishes. Influenced, both in the making and often in the patterns, by the English slipware he encountered while in St Ives in the 1920’s. This example is early in date…probably around 1935 – 40. The pattern is of stylised trees.
A representative and fine example as perhaps a first Hamada in a collection.
4 5/8 inches in diameter.
