LR001      A Large Bowl by Shoji Hamada.

A truly iconic bowl.  Kaki glaze with wax resist roundels containing iron pigment brush decoration. Below is the cover of the catalogue for Hamada’s retrospective exhibition at the National Museum in Tokyo in 1977 showing a similar, but slightly larger bowl.

In good condition.  There is no box but the bowl is so very much Hamada that it doesn’t really need one. The Hamada family in Mashiko will provide a signed and sealed box for a relatively modest fee.

I would refer you to this bowl.  Only 3.5 inches bigger but sold for £31,000.

14.5 inches across.
