H288 A rectangular serving dish by Shoji Hamada.
Hamada was very adept with onglaze enamel. Unlike others his brush patterns and motif were bold and exuberant and not stiff and too carefully managed. I’m always impressed by the forethought that took place when Hamada left areas waxed in readiness to take the enamel pattern. The enamelled pieces always attract a premium price in Japan.
Kaki glaze with red and green enamel.
9.5 inches x 5 inches.
