HJ38   A Yunomi by Hamada Shoji.

A yunomi with red enamel decoration by Hamada Shoji.  Hamada had a very characteristic style with the enamels he used in the third firing. The brush work was free and unfettered just like his work with iron and wax. In the hands of others enamel is often stiffer and more controlled. In Japan Hamada’s enamel pieces fetch premium prices as they were much in the minority compared to his general flow of work and a greatly sought after..

A beautiful piece.

3.5 inches across by 2.6 inches tall.
