HJ89    A vase or Tsubo by Hamada Shoji.

This jar is a very substantial and imposing piece. The brush pattern of motif within circles is something that Hamada did often and there is film of him making just this very pattern. There is some crawling of the kaki glaze around the bottom portion of the jar which i have photographed but it doesn’t detract from what is a pot that exudes Hamada and employs his two most used motif.

See at 4.13 on this film.
