HJ96 A Set of Guinomi by Hamada Shoji.
A very rare and unusual set of 5 guinomi by Hamada Shoji. This set is from the earlier part of his career circa 1935. I believe it was originally sold in an exhibition that he had with others belonging to the Mingei movement at the Takashimaya department store in Tokyo where they constructed a living room designed by Bernard Leach and filled it with furniture and ceramics.
The set comes with a signed box that is annotated with labels from the Department store.
In more than 12 years of searching and acquiring Hamada pieces I have never seen the like of this before.
